Community banking, in our view, consists of giving the customer personalized service versus institutionalized service.  It involves assisting small and medium-sized businesses with complete financial consultation and advisory services in addition to providing them with traditional banking services.  The same holds true for individuals-we provide a broad range of products and services that will assist them in achieving their financial goals. Community banks also provide financial and other support to the communities they serve.
We have a highly competent staff and management.  Decision-makers are within earshot of the front-line people.  This availability allows for prompt and efficient service for our customers.  Because of our desire to accommodate the banking needs of our customers, both staff and management maintain an entrepreneurial attitude.
The overall economy of North Dakota is largely driven by the strength of agri-business and the energy sectors. The economy in Minneapolis, and surrounding areas, is steady. The economy in Phoenix is historically cyclical, but this large metropolitan market offers attractive segments to the Bank.
As our smaller competitors merge into larger banks, BNC has more opportunity to operate in its market niche.
